This pouring vessel (Yuto) is made from lacquer on a bentwood (magemono) core. The bentwood core is supported by three small feet and features an ergonomic handle that projects outward at a sharp angle. The handle itself has a wonderful patina.
The vessel was featured in Seattle Art Museum's 1983 show on Mingei, "Yo No Bi". The show drew from local collections and featured exceptional tansu, basketry, ceramics, and other crafts.
A collection logo can be seen on the underside of the lid.
