A highly unusual sleeveless ceremonial overgarment with wide, stiffened shoulders, worn as part of formal dress. This example is thought to have served a performer at ceremonial occasions. The fabric is decorated with stenciled geometric patterns in gold-leaf. Small clan crests mark each side. Garments of this cut were often worn over a matching pleated skirt. Made of silk and paper, the garment is threadbare in many places.
