An Edo period mizusashi, the fresh water jar used in the tea ceremony. The body pinches in slightly at the middle, which makes it easy to hold. Over a warm brown base glaze, the potter added loose washes of off-white and dark brown glaze that run down the sides. The black lacquer wooden lid has a simple pull. One small gintsugi (silver) repair inside the rim.
