A Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware) bowl with a flared rim and short foot. The cream glaze has a fine crackle throughout. Quick iron-brown brushstrokes of susuki (Japanese pampas grass), an autumn motif, cover the inside and outside, with a few soft spots of cobalt blue. The loose painting style follows the Kenzan tradition. The rim is edged in iron brown, and there are gold lacquer (kintsugi) repairs at the rim and near the base.
