Set of four thinly turned lobed wood plates, each painted in five colors. Such plates were used for serving sweets (wagashi) during the tea ceremony (chanoyu), where their varied hues added visual richness to the presentation of seasonal confections. Mounted on a contemporary steel stand for display.
